Pumps for the Armed Forces
Albany has supplied gear pumps to the Royal Navy, since 1903. We have also supplied the Royal Air Force & the Army, as well as other navies and coast guards around the world. A wide range of pumps have been supplied, including Gear pumps, twin screw pumps, lobe pumps and centrifugal pumps.
Albany makes twin-screw pumps to Stothert & Pitt designs which find wide applications in naval ships, airbases, docks & re-fuelling depots. Outputs up to 600 m³/hr with pressures up to 70 bars for burner applications are covered. Some furnace fuel applications use lobe pumps, which Albany also manufacture.
Armed Forces applications include use as lubricating oil pumps, for fuel oil transfer (including helicopter refuelling) and as fixed or portable pumps for bulk fuel handling, for fuel oil burners, for pumping coolants (to cool radar and sonar equipment), for cleaning liquids, de-icing, as foam pumps for fire fighting, and as sea water transfer pumps on submarine trim systems, as well as for many special duties. Small motorised & hand operated fuel pumps are also supplied for military vehicles.
Albany also manufacture & repair vertical fuel oil/aviation fuel centrifugal pumps for underground tanks, some up to 10 m deep. These pumps will pump kerosene jet fuel at aircraft bases.
Albany pumps are engineered to meet the exacting duties and the harsh environments involved in the most demanding of military operations.
The company also carries out the repair of pumps in the UK, and operates a quality management system assessed to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.
Over the years, we have supplied a very large range of pumps to the armed forces.
